Our Staff

Our teachers at Sunny Hills are carefully selected based on their passion, expertise, and commitment to working with children. Each of our teachers brings special gifts to the classroom, helping to create balance and harmony. Our teachers specialize in providing individualized attention and engaging children in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities.

All staff members have college degrees and/or years of experience working with young children. They stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in early childhood education. They are CPR, First Aid, and Health and Safety certified by the American Red Cross. In addition, all staff members are enrolled in the Central Background Registry (CBR) to uphold the safety and security of our students.

In their spare time, our teachers enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests, including hiking, gardening, reading, writing, photography, collaging, drawing/sketching, traveling, and learning about different cultures. They bring their diverse experiences and perspectives into the classroom, creating a rich and dynamic learning environment for our students.

Millie Alvarez is the dedicated owner and director of Sunny Hills Preschool, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in early childhood education. Despite facing various challenges, including navigating the crash of the housing market and overcoming obstacles in finding a suitable location for the preschool, Millie has remained steadfast in her commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and loving environment for children to thrive.

One of Millie's proudest accomplishments is integrating art literacy into the school's curriculum, culminating in an annual art show that celebrates the creativity and hard work of both children and teachers.

Warm, loving, and deeply empathetic, Millie recognizes the diverse needs of families and strives to provide support and resources whenever possible. She encourages children to advocate for themselves and values their independence and growth.

Millie's collaborative approach extends to partnerships with community workers, including firefighters, dentists, musicians, and police officers, enriching the educational experience at Sunny Hills Preschool.

Committed to fostering a sense of community and stability, Millie prioritizes long-lasting staff relationships and ensures that each child receives the individualized care and attention they need to thrive. She is passionate about providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

In her free time, Millie enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with loved ones, photography, reading, and exploring local music scenes.
